Podcast

A podcast is an audio file that you can listen to or download from the internet at any time. Podcasts are available on a wide variety of specific topics or themes, such as fragments of live radio interviews on a particular subject, audiobooks/stories, information about a specific topic, etc.

Creating your own podcast is also possible. Several Zuyd employees have already started doing so.

Key points to consider when creating and publishing your podcast:

  • According to the collective labour agreement (CAO), Zuyd holds the copyright and must decide whether a podcast can be made available. Formally, there is no protocol yet established for who at Zuyd is authorized to make such decisions. It is advised to always consult your program manager/team leader/supervisor beforehand.
  • Are you using music in your podcast? For example, an intro/outro tune, background music, etc. and you do not own the rights yourself. Arrange these through Buma/Stemra, use freely available stock music, or music published under a Creative Commons license.

Using a short music excerpt as a citation is allowed under certain conditions:

  • The music must not be used solely for enhancing the podcast; there must be a substantive connection. For example, if you intend to evaluate, compare, or discuss the music.
  • Keep the excerpt as short as possible.
  • Use the music in its original form. You may not edit, distort, or give it another title.
  • Clearly cite the source.
