The student as user or author
As a student you can be both a user and an author of information. You make use of work produced by others for research for your assignments, your final dissertation etc. You are allowed to cite from other sources as long as you follow the proper referencing guidelines.

Who holds the rights?
The student maintains the right to his or her work. This means that the decision to publish your work rests with you.
Publishing in the HBO Kennisbank
Students of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences can publish their final dissertations on the HBO Kennisbank. The HBO Kennisbank is the primary access portal to the knowledge products produced by the universities of applied sciences. These are made available for use by others by their inclusion in the HBO Kennisbank. 30 other Dutch universities of applied sciences are participants in the HBO Kennisbank.
Final dissertations can be included in the HBO Kennisbank under certain conditions. You always hold the copyright to your own work. Because circumstances can change you are always free to remove your dissertation from the HBO Kennisbank. Visit your library for further information.
To grant permission for reproduction and publication, you can fill out the 'Publication of final project' form. If you have an agreement with your internship company stating that your thesis may not be made public but can be shared within your institution, you can have your thesis included in the repository. This is a restricted-access website."
Sharing study material on internet platforms
Nowadays there are several sites and internet platforms such as Studeersnel and Stuvia, where you can find summaries of books and exams. Uploading study material to these sites is not without risks.
