Ethical aspects: Help with ethical issues

Ethical Committee for Research (ECO)

The Ethical Committee for Research is the point of contact within Zuyd for advice on research integrity. The committee provides solicited and unsolicited advice on ethical issues related to research at Zuyd, both to researchers and to the Board of Governors on the policy with regards to research integrity. The committee wants to contribute to a research climate within Zuyd in which ethical issues can be discussed in an open and critical manner.

The committee is guided by the

  • Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (2018)
  • Zuyd regulation Ethical Committee for Research (2021) (only in Dutch)

About
Advisory questions can be about issues concerning integrity, but also about how to create a research climate within your research group in which ethical issues can be discussed openly and critically. The Committee can also conduct (at a later stage) an ethical review of the research, if this is required for publication in scientific journals. It may also be advisable to consult the Committee for advice if the research concerns sensitive or controversial subjects.
