Research life cycle: 1.Planning: Requirements subsidy providers

Subsidy provider requirements

Funders of scientific and practice-oriented research are increasingly focused on promoting research integrity and FAIR research data and therefore make demands on the handling of research data by researchers. Research data produced in publicly funded research should at least be findable and preferably freely available for re-use and verification. Being aware of data management is therefore part of the subsidy application. The requirements differ from one subsidy provider to another.

NWO

A data management section is mandatory in the subsidy application. The purpose of this section is to raise the researchers' awareness. After the subsidy application has been granted, a data management plan must be presented. This plan must be approved by NWO before the project can start. The first version must be submitted to NWO no later than 4 months after the grant has been awarded. Costs, even those for making data available after the end of the project, can be included in the application. NWO will be co-owner of the research data.

Sia RAAK

The data management protocol of NWO applies to the Taskforce of Applied Science.

ZonMW

Once the subsidy application has been granted a data management plan must be written. ZonMw has developed its own template for this. Your own institute's template may be used, provided it is recognized by ZonMw. ZonMw is co-producer of the data and does not want rights to be exclusively transferred to third parties. All project results and data must be made accessible for further scientific research and/or exploitation (if possible) in the manner indicated by ZonMw.

Horizon 2020

Horizon2020 is the EU programme for research and innovation. This subsidy provider wants the research data, as far as possible, to be made available to others. This also applies to the data which do not make publication. A data management section is required. Once it has been awarded, the section must be developed into a complete data management plan within six months. Funding for data management issues which occur during the project is available.
