Intercultural Hospitality - Global Explorer Report: APA: Referencing sources

APA and referencing resources

A reference gives any reader the possibility to check where (and in some cases when)  the information was found: in which book or journal article, dissertation, report, video, on which web page ....

Texts and ideas of others may not be presented in one's own document without citing the source, that is plagiarism. Click here to learn more.

You have to use the citation style such APA .

There are several resources such as the Concise guide to APA style, the software Endnote, the Internet tool Scribbr or the References tab in Word. There is also a handy YouTube channel with useful clips.

APA-7 Style Guideline

Always make sure to verify if the APA references provided automatically in the database are correct. The website of the American Psychological Association is particularly useful:
the style and grammar guidelines pages present information about APA Style as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition) and the Concise Guide tot APA Style (7th edition).

Prefer to use the book? Both publications are included in the library collection. Click on the cover for the location.

Tilburg University has developed a LibGuide that brings together all the information around citing sources according to APA 7. Click here

What is citation? And why do we do it? This video explains.

Citing

Tool: create APA references in WORD

WORD provides the ability to include a citation or source list in your document according to APA standards. This can be done without additional software.

The user only needs to enter the details of the source consulted, via "References" at the top of the menu of your Word document.
Unfortunately, the references in Word are not always as explained in The APA Guidelines, especially not according to APA7. Check them in the manual!
