In higher education, we increasingly use visual material and sound recordings. However, uncertainty around rights still poses a barrier to using this material to its full potential. What can or cannot you do with video (film, video or television programme), audio (music, sound) and still images (photos, pictures) in higher education?
For information and rules of thumb on image, sound and copyright, please contact Zuyd Library's Copyright Information Desk.
Mediasite Zuyd includes weblectures, short knowledge clips and video productions by Zuyd staff and students. Mediasite also features short Zuyd Library knowledge clips on how to look up information via the online library catalogue, Google Scholar and more.
Where can you find images you are allowed to reuse? Check the LibGuide Images of the Hanze Library.
There are websites where you can find illustrations/images that are free of copyright. For example:
Zuyd has a subscription to the Beeld & Geluid op School database.
Beeld & Geluid op School provides online access to thousands of hours of streaming content for higher education in the Netherlands. The content is selected from the archives of the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision.
DOE ScienceCinema is a multimedia search engine of the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information, featuring video and audio files produced by DOE National Laboratories, other DOE research facilities and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
